Gur prices weakened by Rs 10 to Rs 969 per 40 kg in futures trading today following increased selling by traders on the back of weak spot market cues.

Marketmen said reports of bumper sugar-cane production this season in tandem with mounting stocks in the physical market, mainly pulled down gur prices in futures trade.

Sluggish demand in spot markets also dampened the trading sentiments to some extent, they said.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, December gur lost Rs 10, or 1.02%, to Rs 969 per 40 kg, with an open interest of 2,490 lots.

The November contract declined by Rs 2.50, or 0.26%, to Rs 961.50 per 40 kg, with an open interest of 6,990 lots.
