The wholesale gur (jaggery) prices plunged by Rs 300 per quintal in the national capital today due to end of festive season, amid heavy supply.
The similar trend depicted in Muzaffarnagar and Muradnagar gur markets and prices showed a sharp fall of Rs 200 per quintal.
Market analysts said end of festival season and mounting gur stocks in the market, led to the sharp fall in prices.
Better then expected sugar-cane production this year caused the easy availability, this also helped to brought down the trading sentiments, they added.
In Delhi, gur dhayya looked down sharply from Rs 2,600-2,650 to settle at Rs 2,350-2,400 per quintal, while pedi prices dropped from Rs 2,500-2,550 to Rs 2,350-2,400 per quintal.
Shakkar prices also dipped by Rs 300 to settle at Rs 2,550-2,600 from Rs 2,800-2,900 per quintal, meanwhile chakku prices eased by Rs 50 to Rs 2,300-2,350 per quintal.
Turning to Muradnagar, gur pedi and dhayya prices quoted lower from Rs 2,250-2,300 and Rs 2,300-2,350 to end at Rs 2,100-2,125 and Rs 2,125-2,150 per quintal, respectively.
At Muzaffarnagar, gur chakku and khurpa traded lower from Rs 2,150-2,300 and Rs 2,150-2,200 to end at Rs 2,100-2,250 and Rs 2,050-2,100 per quintal, respectively.
Poor offtake by alcohol making industries caused the fall of Rs.50 per quintal in gur raskat prices traded at Rs 1,750-1,850 instead of Rs 1,800-1,900 per quintal.
