Gur (jaggery) prices plunged by Rs 150 per quintal in the national capital today, following heavy arrivals of new gur amid reduced offtake.
Muzzafarnagar and Muradnagar gur prices also tumbled due to slackness in demand, sparked by rising inventories.
Marketmen said, heavy supply resulted in creating adequate stocks position into the market and helped in pulling down prices.
In Delhi, gur chakku dropped by Rs 150 to settle at Rs 2,450-2,500 per quintal, while pedi prices slipped from Rs 2,500-2,550 to close at Rs 2,450-2,500 per quintal.
Shakkar prices ended lower at Rs 2,650-2,700 instead of Rs 2,700-2,750 per quintal.
At Muzzafarnagar, gur chakku and khurpa prices fell from Rs 2,220-2,400 and Rs 2,050-2,100 to conclude at Rs 2,175-2,300 and Rs 2,000-2,075 per quintal, respectively.
Gur raskat price too declined from Rs 2,000-2,050 to Rs 1,925-2,000 per quintal on poor offtake by alcohol makers.
In Muradnagar, gur pedi went down from Rs 2,450-2,500 to Rs 2,275-2,325 per quintal on heavy supply.
