Gur prices spurt on brisk buying, paucity of stocks

Gur prices shot up by Rs 250 per quintal in the national capital today due to paucity of stocks amid heavy buying by stockist and retailers.

Muzzafarnagar gur market also witnessed a sharp rise of Rs 300 per quintal on brisk buying.

Marketmen said poor stocks position against restricted supply from manufacturing areas due to ongoing heavy rainfalls, caused the sharp rise in gur prices. In Delhi, Gur chakku jumped up from Rs 2,800-2,850 to Rs 3,050-3,100 per quintal.

Pedi climbed up from Rs 3,050-3,100 to Rs 3,200-3,300 per quintal, while shakkar traded higher at Rs 3,400-3,500 instead of Rs 3,200-3,300 per quintal.

At Muzzafarnagar, gur chakku hardened to settle at Rs 2,750-2,900, showed a gain of Rs 300 per quintal.

Gur raskat also swifted by Rs 200 to Rs 2,150-2,250 on frantic buying by beer and cattle-feed making industries.
