Gur rises on less production

Gur prices rose by Rs 50 per quintal on the wholesale gur (jaggery) today on restricted arrival from producing areas, following less prdouction against increased demand.

Market analysts said fresh buying by stockists and local parties on pick up in demand amid restricted arrivals due to less production mainly pushed up wholesale gur prices.

At Delhi, gur chakku, pedi and dhayya were up by Rs 50 each to Rs 2,300-2,350, Rs 2,450-2,500 and Rs 2,450-2,500 per quintal, respectively on local demand.

In Muzzafarnagar, gur raskat and khurpa were also traded higher by Rs 50 each to Rs 1,925-2,000 and Rs 2,000-2,050 per quintal, respectively.

At Muradnagar, gur pedi and dhayya prices too gained Rs 50 each to Rs 2,150-2,200 each a quintal.

Following were today's quotations per quintal:

Chakku Rs 2,300-2,350, pedi Rs 2,450-2,500, Dhayya Rs 2,450-2,500, and Shakkar Rs 2,550-2,600
Muzaffarnagar: Raskat Rs 1,925-2,000, chakku Rs 2,050-2,250 and Khurpa Rs 2,000-2,050
Muradnagar: Pedi Rs 2,150-2,200 and Dhaya Rs 2,150-2,200
