HDFC Bank gains 5.3%; Bharti down 1%

HDFC Bank has surged 5.3% to Rs 1,212. HDFC has gained 5.1% to Rs 2,280.

SBI is up 4.2% at Rs 1,382. Reliance Infrastructure has moved up 3.8% to Rs 1,101. Jaiprakash Associates has advanced 3.6% to Rs 186.

ONGC has inched 3.2% to Rs 871. Maruti and DLF are up around 3% each at Rs 740 and Rs 506.

Larsen & Toubro has moved up 2.9% to Rs 2,816. ICICI Bank has added 2.5% to Rs 819.

Wipro, Reliance and Ranbaxy are the other major gainers.

Satyam has slipped 1.3% to Rs 482. Bharti Airtel has shed 1% to Rs 831. Relinace Communications is down 0.9% at Rs 530.

Tata Steel has lost 0.5% to Rs 844.

The markets breadth is positive - out of 2,686 stocks traded so far, 1,704 have advanced, 898 have declined and 84 are unchanged.
