Import of edible oils in the last 3 months slowed down compared to June-July 2003 owing to expectation of a good oilseeds crop in 2003 and also as new carotene norms for crude palm oil shut out some consignments. The import growth would have been higher otherwise.
Import of edible oils in October 2003 was 386,706 tonnes compared to 390,450 tonnes in October 2002.
