Key indices ended flat after a volatile session on Friday. The erratic movements were partly due to reluctance to carry positions over the weekend and a general trend ahead of derivatives contracts expiry, dealers said. Mid-caps gained at a faster pace, compared with frontlines. |
The Bombay Stock Exchange's 30-share Sensex ended flat at 8222.59, while Nifty ended flat at 2477.75. Indices had started off on a buoyant note with the Sensex crossing the 8300-mark briefly. |

However, indices kept swinging in a narrow band through the rest of the session as profit sales capped upsides. Sensex touched a high and low of 8327.35 and 8121.81, respectively, while Nifty moved between 2507.90 and 2453.05. |

The CNX Midcap Index moved northwards to end 1.1 per cent higher at 3661.70. Volumes were lower, compared with the past two sessions. Total traded turnover on both exchanges combined was a little over Rs 114 billion. |
