Heavyweights State Bank of India was up 5.99 per cent to close at Rs 601.25 and ITC was up 3.49 per cent to close at Rs 1,058.35. Other heavyweights Reliance Industries was down 1.07 per cent at Rs 579.45 and Hindustan Lever was down 0.79 per cent at Rs 213.85 limiting gains in the index. |
Private sector banking pivotals ICICI Bank was up 1.55 per cent to close at Rs 311.60 and HDFC Bank was up 0.54 per cent at Rs 365.15. |
Tech bellwether Infosys Technologies was up 3.88 per cent to close at Rs 5,892.35 ahead of its quarterly results on Friday. Satyam Computer was marginally up 0.35 per cent at Rs 376.75. |
ACC was up 2.84 per cent at Rs 273.55 and Gujarat Ambuja Cements was up 0.98 per cent at Rs 318.70. Elsewhere, cement pivotals Grasim was down 2.60 per cent at Rs 1,028.05 and L & T was down 2.25 per cent at Rs 524.95. |
PSU major ONGC was up 1.68 per cent at Rs 934.50 while HPCL was down 2.11 per cent at Rs 451.55. |
Pharma pivotals Ranbaxy Labs was down 1.28 per cent at Rs 1,094 and Dr Reddy's Labs was down 0.22 per cent at Rs 1,445.70. Cipla was down 3.48 per cent at Rs 1,350, losing ground after the company denied rumours of bonus. |
Automobile pivotals Hero Honda Motor was down 2.91 per cent at Rs 451.50 and Bajaj Auto was down 1.25 per cent at Rs 1,108.25. |
