Jeera, ajwain rise on stockists buying

Jeera and ajwain prices rose up to Rs 500 per quintal in the wholesale kirana market today on brisk buying by stockists against restricted arrivals.  

Traders said brisk buying by stockists against limited arrivals from producing region pushed jeera and ajwain prices. 

In the national capital, jeera common and best quality remained in demand and advanced by Rs 300 each to Rs 14,500-14,700 and Rs 16,400-16,900 per quintal, respectively.  

Likewise, ajwain also seen in demand and its prices shot up by Rs 500 to Rs 12,500-20,000 per quintal. 

Following are today's quotations in Rs per quintal:

Ajwain 12,500-20,000, black pepper common 23,900-24,100, betelnut (kg) 120-145, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,040-1,050, and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,175-1,350

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 1,100-1,180, cardamom (colour robin) 1,150-1,170, cardamom bold 1,180-1,190, cardamom extra (bold) 1,300-1,320 and cloves (kg) 330-390
