Jeera fell for the second day today by losing Rs 200 to reach Rs 13,795 a quintal in futures trade as speculators offloaded positions after improved rains raised prospects of better sowing in producing region.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in September fell by Rs 200, or 1.43%, to Rs 13,795 per quintal, with an open interest of 618 lots.
The October contract declined by Rs 182.50, or 1.30%, to Rs 13,830 per quintal in 19,845 lots.
Analysts said the fall in jeera futures prices was due to offloading of positions by speculators as improved rains in the top producing state of Gujarat boosted prospects of higher sowing.
