Jeera prices lost Rs 26, or 0.22 per cent to Rs 11,961 per quintal in futures market today on subdued demand and estimates of higher output.

On the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, jeera for May contract declined by Rs 26, or 0.22 per cent to Rs 11,961 per quintal, with an open interest of 1,809 lots.

The spice for delivery in June contract also shed Rs 7, or 0.06 per cent to Rs 12,210 per quintal, with a business volume of 15,342 lots.

Market analysts said, subdued demand in spot markets and estimates of higher output this season mainly put pressure on the jeera prices at futures market.
