Jeera futures prices extended weakness for the second straight day, with prices falling by another Rs 90 to Rs 13,685 per quintal today on weak overseas demand amid higher sowing in Gujarat.
At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, January jeera lost Rs 90, or 0.65 per cent, to Rs 13,685 per quintal, with an open interest of 17,457 lots.
The December delivery declined by Rs 79, or 0.58 per cent, to Rs 13,430 per quintal, with a trade volume of 6,264 lots.
Market analysts said weak overseas demand and reports of higher sowing in Gujarat a major producing states also influenced jeera futures prices.
