Amid higher supplies in the spot market and weak export demand, jeera prices fell by Rs 145 to Rs 14,165 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators trimmed positions.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in November fell by Rs 145, or 1.01%, to Rs 14,165 per quintal, with an open interest of 9,510 lots.

December jeera lost Rs 130, or 0.88%, to Rs 14,670 per quintal in 15,540 lots.

Marketmen said offloading of positions by speculators on higher supplies and subdued export demand kept pressure on jeera futures.
