Jeera prices fell by Rs 53 to Rs 14,600 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators reduced their position due to subdued spot market demand.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in August declined by Rs 53, or 0.36%, to Rs 14,600 per quintal, with an open interest of 17,715 lots.

The July contract lost Rs 41, or 0.29%, to Rs 14,214 per quintal in 14,997 lots.

Analysts said off-loading of positions by speculators due to subdued demand in the spot market mainly kept pressure on the jeera futures prices.
