Amid profit-booking by speculators and weak trend at spot markets, jeera prices fell by Rs 68, or 0.49 per cent, to Rs 13,700 per quintal in futures trading today.

However, lower stocks and hopes of overseas demand, capped losses.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange platform, jeera for October month fell by Rs 68, or 0.49 per cent, to Rs 13,700 per quintal, with an open interest of 10,911 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in November traded lower by Rs 57, or 0.41 per cent, to Rs 13,741 per quintal in 10,827 lots.

Analysts said profit-taking by speculators after prices rose over 4 per cent in past few sessions, mainly led to a fall in jeera futures prices but lower stocks in the market, restricted losses.
