Jeera traded Rs 39 or 0.32 per cent lower at Rs 12,165 per quintal in futures trading, as speculators reduced their positions on lacklustre exports demand and estimates of higher output.

On the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, jeera for delivery in August declined by Rs 39, or 0.32 per cent to Rs 12,165 per quintal, with an open interest of 8,940 lots.

The spice for delivery in July contract also edged lower by Rs 26, or 0.22 per cent to Rs 11,617 per quintal, with an open interest of 6,825 lots.

Analysts said apart from higher output concerns, sluggish exports and domestic demand in anticipation of higher output, put pressure on the jeera futures prices.
