Jeera futures prices fell by Rs 83 to Rs 13,308 per quintal today, as speculators offloaded their positions, driven by a sluggish export demand in spot markets.

Reports of rise of sowing jeera in Gujarat, the major producing state, also influenced the market sentiment and supported the down-trend in futures.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for December contract declined by Rs 83, or 0.62%, to Rs 13,308 per quintal, with an open interest of 11,310 lots.

Similarly, the spice for January contract shed Rs 74, or 0.54%, to Rs 13,600 per quintal, with a trade volume of 14,748 lots.

Analysts said speculators offloaded their positions, driven by subdued export demand mainly led to decline in jeera prices at futures trade.
