Jeera futures prices fell by 1.18% to Rs 17,550 per quintal today on profit booking by speculators, driven by weakening export demand.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for May contract fell sharply by Rs 209, or 1.18%, to Rs 17,550 per quintal, with an open interest of 2,406 lots.
Similarly, March contracts of the spice fell by Rs 196, or 1.16%, to Rs 16,750 per quintal, with an open interest of 12,084 lots. The contract has risen over 14% during the month so far.
Market analysts said profit booking after yesterday's gains and weakening export demand, mainly dragged down jeera prices at futures trade here.
