Jeera prices fell by 1.26% to Rs 14,060 per quintal in futures trade today after speculators reduced their positions, taking cues from weak trend at spot markets on poor demand.

Besides, higher supplies in the market also weighed on the jeera prices at futures trade.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for July delivery fell sharply by Rs 179, or 1.26%, to Rs 14,060 per quintal, with an open interest of 7,473 lots.

Similarly, the spice for August delivery declined by Rs 170, or 1.16%, to Rs 14,501 per quintal, with a business volume of 14,444 lots.

Analysts said weak spot markets demand against higher supplies, mainly kept pressure on the jeera prices in futures trade here.
