Jeera prices fell by Rs 141 to Rs 14,480 per quintal in futures trading today, as speculators indulged in booking profits at existing higher levels following yesterday's gains.

However, lower supplies and spot demand, restricted losses.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange platform, jeera for December delivery fell by Rs 141, or 0.96 per cent to Rs 14,480 per quintal, with an open interest of 8,283 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in January declined by Rs 138, or 0.93 per cent to Rs 14,818 per quintal, with an open interest of 12,537 lots, while delivery in February contract was down by Rs 139, or 0.91 per cent to Rs 15,122 per quintal.

Analysts said profit-bookings by speculators at prevailing higher levels led to a decline in jeera prices but spot demand and lower supplies, restricted losses.
