Jeera futures prices rose by Rs 51 to Rs 13,223 per quintal today, as speculators enlarged their positions, supported by pick up in demand in the spot market.
Decline in arrivals from producing regions also influenced the trading sentiment.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, jeera for delivery in November rose by Rs 51, or 0.39 per cent to Rs 13,223 per quintal, with an open interest of 11,964 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in December edged higher by Rs 45, or 0.34 per cent, to Rs 13,432 per quintal, with a trade volume of 12,567 lots.
Analysts said firm spot demand, driven by ongoing festive and marriage season, mainly influenced jeera futures prices.
Expectations of a rise in acreage reduced the gain, they said.
