Jeera prices rose by Rs 78, or 0.54 per cent, to Rs 14,650 per quintal in futures trade today on pick up in demand in the spot market against thin arrivals.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange platform, jeera for October-month rose by Rs 78, or 0.54 per cent, to Rs 14,650 per quintal, with an open interest of 5,724 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in August-month moved up by Rs 76, or 0.54 per cent, to Rs 14,120 per quintal, with a turnover of 7,890 lots.

Analysts attributed the rise in jeera futures prices to pick up in spot demand and restricted arrivals from the producing regions.
