Jeera futures prices rose by 1.53 per cent to Rs 16,971 per quintal today as speculators enlarged positions, supported by better trend at spot market amid pick up in export demand.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, Jeera for June contract rose by Rs 256, or 1.53 per cent, to Rs 16,971 per quintal, with an open interest of 330 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in March moved up by Rs 220, or 1.42 per cent, to Rs 15,700 per quintal, with an open interest of 2,916 lots.
Market analysts said pick up in domestic as well as export demand mainly influenced jeera prices at futures trade here.
