Jeera prices fell 0.42% to Rs 16,305 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators booked profits amid higher arrivals in the spot markets.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for September delivery fell by Rs 69, or 0.42%, to Rs 16,305 per quintal, with an open interest of 17,700 lots.

Similarly, the spice for August delivery moved down by Rs 65, or 0.41%, to Rs 15,885 per quintal, with a trade turnover of 14,676 lots.

Analysts said besides profit-taking by speculators, sufficient stocks position in the spot markets following higher arrivals, mainly kept pressure on the jeera futures prices.
