Jeera prices rose by Rs 35, or 0.25 per cent, to Rs 14,176 per quintal in futures trade today as traders enlarged their positions, driven by pick up in spot demand.

Restricted arrivals from the producing regions also influenced the jeera prices at futures trade.

On the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange platform, jeera for September gained Rs 35, or 0.25 per cent, to Rs 14,176 per quintal, with an open interest of 15,840 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in August traded higher by Rs 25, or 0.18 per cent, to Rs 13,870 per quintal, with an open interest of 6,627 lots.

Analysts said better demand at the physical markets led to a recovery in jeera futures prices here but weak overseas enquiries, capped gains.
