Jeera futures traded 0.52 per cent higher at Rs 14,200 per quintal today, as speculators created fresh positions, driven by tight supplies in the market.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange platform, jeera for delivery in March gained Rs 75, or 0.52 per cent, to Rs 14,537 per quintal, with an open interest of 14,997 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in January also traded Rs 68, or 0.48 per cent higher, at Rs 14,200 per quintal, with a business turnover of 5,877 lots.
Analysts said fresh positions created by speculators, supported by tight supplies and diminishing stocks in the market, influenced jeera prices at futures trade here.
