Jeera prices rose by Rs 101 or 0.84 per cent to Rs 12,175 per quintal in futures trade today after traders created fresh positions triggered by good demand at lower levels in spot markets.
At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, jeera for delivery in June contract rose by Rs 101, or 0.84 per cent to Rs 12,175 per quintal, with an open interest of 13,974 lots.
The spice for delivery in July contract also moved up by Rs 98, or 0.79 per cent to Rs 12,494 per quintal, with an open interest of 11,100 lots.
Market experts said emergence of buying at lower levels in the spot market against less stocks position supported the recovery in the jeera prices at futures trade.
Meanwhile, spot rates in Unjha, a key spot market in Gujarat, ended little changed at Rs 12,518 per quintal in yesterday's trade.
