Jeera prices rose Rs 79 or 0.68 per cent to Rs 11,679 per quintal in futures trade today after speculators enlarged their positions, supported by pick up in demand at spot markets.
Lower arrivals in physical markets also influenced the jeera prices at futures trade.
At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, jeera for July-month contract rose by Rs 79, or 0.68 per cent to Rs 11,694 per quintal, with an open interest of 12,675 lots.
The spice for delivery in June contract also traded higher by Rs 61, or 0.53 per cent to Rs 11,484 per quintal, with a business turnover of 7,728 lots.
Marketmen said increased demand and restricted arrivals from the producing regions helped jeera prices to trade higher at futures market.
