Buoyed by strong demand and tight arrivals at the physical market, jeera prices rose by Rs 61, or 0.43 per cent, to Rs 14,361 per 100 kg in futures trade today.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for August delivery rose by Rs 61, or 0.43 per cent, to Rs 14,361 per 100 kg, with an open interest of 12,867 lots.
Similarly, jeera for July contract delivery gained Rs 25, or 0.18 per cent, to Rs 14,150 per quintal, in an open interest of 4,887 lots.
At Unjha, the benchmark spot market in Gujarat, jeera gained Rs 111 to Rs 13,611 per 100 kg in previous session.
Analysts attributed the rise in jeera futures prices to pick up in spot demand and restricted arrivals from producing regions.
