Jeera prices rose by Rs 82, or 0.59 per cent, to Rs 14,084 per quintal in futures trade today supported by rising demand in spot market amid restricted supply.

At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange counter, jeera for August delivery rose by Rs 82, or 0.59 per cent, to Rs 14,084 per quintal, with an open interest of 12,342 lots.

Similarly, the spice for July contract gained Rs 72, or 0.52 per cent, to Rs 13,852 per quintal, with an open volume of 6,798 lots.

Analysts attributed the rise in jeera futures prices to pick up in spot demand against restricted arrivals from producing regions.
