Jeera, pepper up on restricted arrivals

Jeera and pepper prices rose by Rs 100 per quintal on the wholesale kirana market today due to sustained buying by stockists and retailers. 

Traders said sustained buying by stockists and retailers for the ongoing marriage season against less arrivals from producing regions due to adverse weather conditions, led to rise in jeera and pepper prices. 

In the national capital, jeera common and best quality rose by Rs 100 each to Rs 14,200-14,400 and Rs 16,100-16,600, respectively, while black pepper traded higher by the same margin to Rs 23,900-24,100 per quintal.

Ajwain 12,000-19,500, black pepper common 23,900-24,100, betelnut (kg) 120-145, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,040-1,050, and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,175-1,350

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 1,100-1,180, cardamom (colour robin) 1,150-1,170, cardamom bold 1,180-1,190, cardamom extra (bold) 1,300-1,320 and cloves (kg) 330-390
