Jeera futures remainder under pressure and prices fell by Rs 343, or 2.47 per cent, to Rs 13,555 per 100 kg today on subdued domestic as well as exports demand.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange platform, jeera for delivery in October fell sharply by Rs 343, or 2.47 per cent, to Rs 13,555 per 100 kg, with an open interest of 15,375 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in September also traded down by Rs 331, or 2.42 per cent, to Rs 13,370 100 kg, with an open interest of 12,195 lots. It ended 0.60 per cent down at Rs 13,701 per 100 kg in the previous session.
Analysts said besides, offloading of positions by speculators following weak domestic and exports demand, hopes of higher sowing in the upcoming season on favourable monsoon rains, also weighed on the jeera futures here.
Meanwhile, jeera exports in April-July period of 2010 fell 19 per cent to 13,500 tonnes from the same period a year ago.
