Jeera prices recovered by 0.30 per cent in futures trade today on low-level buying but poor export demand and fresh arrival capped the gains.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX), jeera for February delivery rose Rs 44, or 0.30 per cent to Rs 14,750 per quintal, with an open interest of 9,156 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in March lost Rs 32, or 0.21 per cent, to Rs 15,090 per quintal, with a business volume of 16,344 lots.

Market analysts said bargain buying by speculators helped jeera futures to trade higher but hopes of fresh arrivals and poor export demand, limited the gains.

Meanwhile, the country's jeera exports in April-December period fell 37 per cent on year-on-year basis to 24,250 tonnes.
