Jeera strengthened by 1.17% to Rs 11,677.50 per quintal in futures trading today after speculators enlarged positions, triggered by rising spot demand.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in March rose by Rs 135, or 1.17% to Rs 11,677.50 per quintal with an open interest of 6,117 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in April traded higher by Rs 120, or 1.05% to Rs 11,585 per quintal in 6,117 lots.
Analysts attributed the rise in jeera futures to upsurge in demand in the spot market but expectations of higher output limited the gains.
