Jeera traded Rs 97, or 0.68 per cent, higher at Rs 14,286 per 100 kg in futures trade today, as traders engaged in building up positions, supported by tight stocks in the spot markets amid pick up in demand.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, jeera for delivery in far-month Sepetmber contracts rose by Rs 97, or 0.68 per cent, to Rs 14,286 per quintal, with an open interest of 15,360 lots.

Similarly, jeera for delivery in August contracts delivery also traded Rs 94, or 0.68 per cent, to Rs 13,985 per 100 kg, with a business volume of 6,97 lots.

It ended 0.44 per cent down at Rs 13,891 per 100 kg.

Analysts attributed the rise in jeera futures prices to buying activity at the spot markets and tight stocks following decline in arrivals.
