Jeera prices drifted by 1.19% to Rs 13,260 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators reduced their positions, driven by sluggish demand in the spot market.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in July fell by Rs 160, or 1.19%, to Rs 13,260 per quintal with an open interest of 12,228 lots.
Similarly, jeera for delivery in the August contract moved down by Rs 162.50, or 1.18%, to Rs 13,572.50 per quintal in 10,575 lots.
Market analysts said speculators reduced their positions, driven by sluggish demand in the spot market against adequate stocks position mainly led to fall in jeera prices at futures trade.
