Jowar, maize decline on sluggish demand

Jowar and maize prices declined by up to Rs 30 per quintal in the wholesale grains market on reduced industrial demand.

Atta, maida and sooji also eased on sluggish demand.

Traders said fall in industrial demand against adequate stocks mainly led to the decline in jowar and maize prices.

Subdued local demand also led to the decline in atta, maize and sooji prices, they said.

In the national capital, jowar yellow and white prices declined by Rs 30 each to Rs 1,000-1,070 and Rs 1,800-1,875, respectively, while maize shed Rs 10 to Rs 1,240-1,250 per quintal.

Atta flour mills and sooji weakened by Rs 10 each to Rs 650-670 and Rs 740-760, respectively, while maida lost Rs 40 to Rs 680-710 per 50 kg.

Basmati rice (Lal Quila) 9,500, Shri Lal Mahal 9,300, super basmati rice 9,000, Basmati common 5,300-5,400, rice Pusa-(1121) 4,200-5,200, Permal raw 1,825-1,875, Permal wand 2,000-2,100, Sela 2,100-2,150 and Rice IR-8 1,700-1,725, Bajra 1010-1020, Jowar yellow 1,000-1,070, white 1,800-1,875, Maize 1,240-1,250, Barley 1,465-1490 and Rajasthan 1,080-1,090.
