Kabli gram prices spurted by Rs 300 per quintal in the wholesale grains market today on increased buying by stockists and retailers, driven by pick up in demand.

Higher trend at producing regions also supported the upside in kabli gram prices. However, moong lacked necessary buying support at higher levels and declined.

Traders said frantic buying by stockists and retailers on pick up in demand, against restricted arrivals mainly led to an upsurge in kabli gram prices. Kabli gram small prices surged by Rs 300 to Rs 3,300- 4,500 per quintal.

Moong and its dal chilka local lost Rs 200 each to Rs 5,300-5,700 and Rs 6,000-6,400 per quintal.
