KRBL, a Rs 600 crore company, has 52 per cent market share of basmati exported to US. Following the new order, market share would increase to 75 per cent in the current financial year.

The company recently announced its plans to scale-up its existing contract farming and seed businesses to strengthen its supply base. Contract farming offers huge sourcing opportunities to exporters.

Contract farming would help exporters improve quality of produce and productivity with mechanisation of agriculture and organised management of processes.

The company presently conducts contract farming on over one lakh acre of land which it plans to increase five fold in next few years.

KRBL, which runs its own research and development arm, uses cutting-edge agronomic techniques and systems to produce the highest quality seed.

KRBL was also planning to invest around Rs 25 crore to scale-up its seed business and get into collaborative agri-research.

The company has also increased sales in the domestic market with its basmati brand
