Kurian calls it quits, Sinor is new CEO of AMFI

The Association of Mutual Funds in India (AMFI) today announced the appointment of H N Sinor as the chief executive officer (CEO) and the retirement of the present chairman A P Kurian.

At the AMFI board meeting today, it was unanimously decided to appoint H N Sinor as the CEO with immediate effect. His term will be for a period of three years, a press release issued here said.

"Kurian, who is currently the chairman of AMFI, has expressed his desire to retire. The board accepted his retirement. Kurian has agreed to continue as chairman till the next annual general meeting in September, when the new chairman will be elected," the release said.

Sinor has 42-years of experience in banking and was last with the Indian Banks Association as its chief executive from June 2003 to July 2008. He also continues to be on the board of a few companies.

"I am looking forward to provide leadership to the mutual fund industry at this critical stage," Sinor said.
