Lead down 0.1% on sluggish demand

Globally, at the London Metal Exchange lead rose 0.5%

Lead traded a shade lower at Rs 123.40 per kg in futures trade today after participants reduced their exposures amid sluggish demand from battery makers in the spot market even as metal rose in the global market.

At the Multi Commodity exchange, lead for delivery in June shed 20 paise, or 0.16%, to Rs 123.40 per kg in business turnover of 847 lots.

Metal prices for delivery in the July fell by a similar margin to trade at Rs 124 per kg in 69 lots.

Globally, at the London Metal Exchange (LME) lead rose 0.5% to $2,102.50 per tonne.

Market analysts said subdued demand from battery-makers in the domestic spot market led to a fall in lead futures prices but metal's strength at the LME, limited the fall.
