Lead prices fell 0.78% to Rs 126.45 per kg in futures trade today as speculators reduced exposure on subdued spot demand amid a weak trend in the entire base metals overseas.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in October declined by Re one, or 0.78%, to Rs 126.45 per kg in business turnover of 347 lots.
The metal for delivery in November also traded lower by 95 paise, or 0.74%, to Rs 127.40 per kg in a turnover of 16 lots.
Marketmen said besides subdued demand from domestic consuming industries, weakness in copper and other base metals overseas largely on concern that the US political impasse could lead to a recession in the world's biggest economy, weighed on lead futures prices here.
