Lead futures prices fell by 0.58% to Rs 111.55 per kg today, as speculators reduced their positions amid a weakening trend in base metals on the London Metal Exchange (LME).
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, January lead declined by 65 paise, or 0.58%, to Rs 11.55 per kg, with a trade volume of 35 lots.
The December deliver lost 50 paise, or 0.45%, to Rs 110.35 per kg, with a business turnover of 844 lots.
Meanwhile, lead lost 1.2% to $2,140 per tonne on the LME in early trade today.
Analysts said a subdued trend in the domestic spot market due to sluggish demand from battery makers and a weakening trend in base metals at the LME amid concerns thatt Europe's debt crisis will persist even after leaders agreed to a fiscal accord.
