Lead prices gained by Rs 1.65 or 1.93 per cent, to Rs 87.30 per kg in futures trading today on fresh buying by traders amid firming trend at the London Metal Exchange.

At The Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for September gained Rs 1.65, or 1.93 per cent, to Rs 87.30 per kg, with an open interest of 24 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in July-month edged up by Rs 0.55, or 0.65 per cent, to Rs 85.15 per kg, with an open interest of 6,360 lots.

Marketmen said fresh buying by traders on pick up in demand from car battery makers amid firming trend at the London Metal Exchange helped lead prices to trade higher.

Meanwhile, lead rose 0.6 per cent to $1,835 a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
