Taking positive cues from global market and pick-up in domestic demand, lead prices rose by 1.06 per cent to Rs 110 per kg in futures trade today.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, lead for delivery in January gained Rs 1.15, or 1.06 per cent, to Rs 110 per kg, with a trade turnover of 11 lots.

The metal for delivery in February contract also edged higher by 80 paise, or 0.73 per cent, to Rs 109.70 per kg, with a business turnover of two lots.

Market analysts said apart from pick-up in demand at the spot market from battery makers, gains in base metals at the London Metal Exchange (LME) also influenced the lead prices at futures trade.

Globally, lead rose 1.1 per cent to $2,401.25 a tonne at the LME.
