Lead trades lower on global cues

Tracking a weak trend in other base metals in the global market and subdued spot demand, lead traded marginally lower by 0.13% to Rs 114.70 per kg in futures market today on reduced offtake by speculators.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, September lead traded lower by 15 paise, or 0.13% to Rs 114.70 per kg in a business turnover of 2,843 lots.

The October contract traded lower by the same margin to Rs 114.60 per kg in 139 lots.

Market analysts said sluggish demand from battery-makers in the spot market amid weakening trend in other base metals at the London Metal Exchange, led to the fall in futures.

Meanwhile, lead declined by 0.6% to $2,374 a metric tonne at London Metal Exchange.
