Lead prices edged higher by 0.43% to Rs 108.75 per kg in futures trade today in line with a firming trend in global markets amid pick up in spot demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in September moved up by 50 paise, or 0.43%, to Rs 117.05 per kg, with a business turnover of 5,042 lots.

October lead rose by similar margin to trade at Rs 117.55 per kg with a turnover of 431 lots.

Marketmen said besides increased demand at domestic spot markets from battery-makers, positions built-up by speculators in line with a firming global trend helped lead prices to trade higher at futures trade.
