Lead up 0.5% on strong spot demand, overseas cues

Higher offtake from battery makers and firm trend on LME influence futures prices

Lead futures prices today rose by 0.50 per cent to Rs 131.35 per kg on rising spot demand.
    
The metal's strength at the London Metal Exchange also helped lead to trade higher.
    
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, lead for delivery in February traded 65 paise, or 0.50 per cent, higher at Rs 131.35 per kg, with a turnover of 441 lots.

The March contract rose by 55 paise, or 0.42 per cent, to trade at Rs 132.35 per kg, in a business turnover of 15 lots.
    
Marketmen said besides strong domestic demand from battery-makers, a firm trend in base metals at the LME influenced lead prices at futures trade here.
