Maize prices up on fresh buying

Maize prices improved by Rs 12 to Rs 1,014.50 per quintal in futures market today on fresh buying, amid restricted supply in physical markets.

Marketmen said low arrivals and pick up in demand at physical markets, influenced the trading sentiment in futures prices of maize.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange counter, maize prices for most-active January month contract delivered at Nizamabad rose by Rs 12 or 1.20 per cent to Rs 1,014.50 per quintal, with an open interest of 15,900 lots. 

Current December-month contract also gained by Rs 8.50 or 0.86 per cent to Rs 1,000 per quintal, clocked an open interest of 1,510 lots.
